John would not simply believe in God, but the Lord's commission called for a power that was not his own, he would fulfill his mission by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So, what did Jesus say about the Holy Spirit?
John 16: 13
1. He will guide you and me into the truth. He cannot lie, and you can trust Him to lead you to the truth.
2. The Holy Spirit does not work independently of the Father. He will not speak on His own authority but whatever He hears He will speak.
3. He will tell us things to come.
4. The Holy Spirit is your friend, your confidant, and if you train your ears, you can and will hear Him speaking to you.
Isaiah 11: 2
Jesus did not start His earthly ministry until He was full of the Holy Spirit, until He Himself was clothed with power from on High.
Luke 4: 14-15
Just like John the Baptisit, Jesus, and those who waited in Jerusalem, our mission, our work, our calling, must have the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit!
